The facelift for Orono’s downtown parking lots has begun. General Contractor Vaughn D. Thibodeau II Inc. of Bangor began on Monday with the Mill Street Parking Lot between The Verve and Orono Pharmacy. The old pavement was removed Monday and the first coat of pavement will applied that afternoon. They will need to come back Tuesday to apply the final layer of asphalt and stripe the parking lot.
This week they will also begin working on the Pine Street Parking lot. The plan is to remove the center islands on each row. This will require coning off 3’ on each side of the islands to enable access to the islands while still leaving shortened parking space available for the public to use.
