In an effort to remove the safety hazards and clear the currently impassable trails, the Town has engaged a contractor to perform a salvage harvest operation on the lot. This work is scheduled to begin on or after Monday, December 4, 2017 and continue for approximately three weeks – generally between the hours of 7:00AM and dusk Monday through Saturday.
The current condition and planned harvest operation create hazardous conditions; therefore, it is imperative that members of the public stay away from the lot and trails in this area until the work has been completed. While the contractor is aware that this lot abuts the school and will use extra caution; the Town is asking members of the public to not access the lot and to also use caution as contractor vehicles and machinery will be accessing the site by Westwood Drive.
The Town’s goal is to have the trails cleared and passable enough to be used for cross-country skiing this winter. There will likely be damage to the trail infrastructure that the Town will work with dedicated volunteers to fix in the spring. We appreciate everyone’s patience as the Town addresses this damage and look forward to working with the community to ensure that the property will continue to be utilized for a wide array of recreation activities.
