Public Hearing on Moving the Date of Annual Municipal Election



The Orono Town Council will hold a series of public hearings at its regular business meeting on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 5:00pm in the Municipal Building Council Chambers, 59 Main Street to consider the following:

a. A Class I Restaurant – Malt, Wine & Spirits Liquor License, Special Amusement Permit for Music, Dancing and Entertainment and Victualer’s License for Orono House of Pizza, Inc, located at 154 Park Street.

b. Proposed revisions to the Town of Orono Code of Ordinances Sections 18-31 (Definitions); 18-106 (Schedule of Uses); and 18-132 (Lot and Yard Requirements); 18-138 (Accessory Dwelling Units) as well as adding 18-155 (Affordable Housing Development). These ordinance changes are proposed to comply with State of Maine Law - enacted in 2022 by virtue of the passage of LD 2003.)

c. Proposed revisions to Town of Orono Code of Ordinances Chapter 29, Article III regarding the Renewal Process for Marijuana Establishment Business Licenses.

d. Calling a March 5, 2024, Municipal Referendum Election for voter consideration of proposed Amendments to the Orono Town Charter Section 1.1.9 Nominations and Elections Referendum. Moving the Annual Municipal Election from the 2nd Tuesday of March (or within 30 days of said date to coincide with a called state or federal election) to the 1st Tuesday of November (or within 30 days of said date to coincide with a called state or federal election).
