Nov. 26-Skype for the Holidays

The holidays are coming, but friends and family can’t!  Join us on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the OPL Communtiy Room and learn how to stay in touch while miles apart! Jan Smith will hook us up to social networking via Skype, Dropbox, Viber, Google+ and more.

Recreation Basketball

The Orono Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer a youth basketball program for grades PreK-5 under the leadership of our new director, Bob Sinclair.  This program will be held on Saturday mornings beginning December 7th at the Orono Middle School.

 PreK-Grade 1 (Co-Ed) Instructional Program.  This six week program begins December 7th from 9-10 am at the Orono Middle School gym.

Gingerbread House Construction - December 17th

Come make a Gingerbread House at the Keith Anderson Community House on Tuesday, December 17th.  3:30 p.m. the construction will begin. 

This program is for all age children. 

There will be lots of candy, frosting and fun.  There is no charge for this program but pre-registration is a must. Register here.

Tea With Santa-December 10th

The North Pole is calling all children to come to a "Tea With Santa" on Tuesday, December 10th at 10am in the Keith Anderson Community House.

All children will have an opportunity to visit with Santa, Mrs. Claus and talk about their Holiday Wishes. Each child will receive a small gift from Santa and enjoy some tea (it's really juice) and Holiday treats.

Nov. 20- Flight to Freedom Author Book reading/signing

Kathryn Olmstead shares well-known professional portrait photographer, Philomena Baker's, story that begins in Russia and ends in Maine. Baker's remarkable childhood experience as a German refugee during WWII is told in Olmstead's book, Flight to Freedom.  Evacuated from Odessa with the German army, Baker and her mother walked most of way to American-occupied Germany, carrying precious family photos which are shared in the book.

Temporary Road Closings

Saturday, November 16th Forest Avenue will be Closed to Traffic (7AM-3PM).

Bangor Gas will be laying pipe across Forest Avenue near Forest Ave/Bennoch Road.  Forest Avenue traffic will be detoured down Bennoch Road, across Noyes Drive to Forest Avenue.  Local traffic will enter Forest Avenue from Noyes Drive.

Monday, November 18th Bennoch Road will be Closed to Traffic (All Day)

The Orono-Veazie Water District will be working across Bennoch Road.  Bennoch Road traffic will be detoured...
