Code Enforcement Office Closed

The Code Enforcement Office will be closed until 11 a.m. on Monday, June 1st.

Curbside Yard Wast Pickup Ends Friday, May 29th!

Public Works crew will collect the yard waste (brush and bagged leaves) at curbside until Friday, May 29th, but will not be back through to collect again this spring. Residents are encouraged to take their brush and bagged leaves to the landfill. Permits are free and can be picked up at the Town Office during regular business hours.

Author Carolyn Locke visits Thursday 6/4 at 6:30!

Carolyn will be discussing her book Not One Thing: Following Matsuo Basho’s Narrow Road to the Interior. A combination of prose, haiku, and photography, the book explores her travels around the island of Honshu with fifteen other teachers from around the United States as part of a Fulbright-Hays Special Project. Locke will read selected passages from the book with an accompanying slide show that will transport you to some of the most interesting cultural and historical sites in Japan!

Daily Fire Danger

Springtime often has weather conditions that increase the risk of wildfires. That risk is published by the Maine Forest Service daily and classifies fire danger from low to extreme. Burning should only be done on days that have low or moderate fire danger. You can check the fire danger by visiting http://www. maine.gov/dacf/mfs/wildf ire_danger_report/index.html   … for the fire danger report before you burn. Offices Moving

The offices of Assessing, Code Enforcement and Planning are relocating from the second floor of the Town Office to the first floor within the next couple of weeks.

Our office hours, phone numbers and email addresses will remain the same.  Access to our offices will be Administrative door by the elevator.

Please be patient with us during this transition.  We hope to be completely in place by Monday, June 1, 2015.

Street & Stream Cleanup & Poster Winners

Join us for the Town of Orono Street and Stream Cleanup, May 16th starting at 9AM in the Council Chambers, 59 Main Street.  The cleanup will be followed by a BBQ at the Fire Station for all volunteers.
